Making local public records easier to explore
Sturdy Statistics is a Santa Barbara company. This project began with the thoughtful, passionate, and often well-researched comments that local people submitted on decisions affecting their city. Those comments deserve to be preserved and easy to find.
Why these records matter
Past discussions show which concerns people raised, what they proposed, and how a decision took shape. They can help inform the next local debate.
Our reports organize written submissions by topic and link excerpts to the underlying records. The numbers describe the comments received. They are not a poll or a measure of what all Santa Barbara residents think.
What comes next
We are also making government documents easier to use. The State Street cost explorer organizes the City’s project estimate so readers can see the construction work behind the total. We plan to add more public records as they become available.
